The McCarney Music Studio offers:
Piano Lessons: private lessons are offered from my private studio on the west side of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Lessons are offered year-round and are organized into 3 terms: Fall, Spring and Summer. Students receive individual once-weekly lessons given on a beautiful acoustic 1952 Haddorff Console piano, and are offered to those age 6 and up, beginning through advanced levels, after interview.
30, 45, and 60 minute lesson lengths are available.
As a part of private piano lessons, students participate in periodic group classes and semester-end recitals.
Lessons "A La Carte": single lessons for current or visiting students who need an extra lesson to work on repertoire for an audition or concert, theory for a test or exam, or any other element of music that a student may need extra time for. Payment is due at the time of service; see the Studio Policy for rates. A La Carte lesson scheduling is done on an individual basis.
Theory and Musicianship Coaching: Do you play another instrument but need assistance with theory, aural skills, rhythm, or music analysis? Do you play or sing for a musical group and want to improve your role in the ensemble? Does your ensemble need help working together to create a finished product? Theory and Musicianship coaching will help you improve your skills! Coaching sessions are scheduled and billed as an "a la carte" lesson. Click on the Contact Me tab for questions or to set up a session.
Skype/Distance Lessons: "A La Carte" piano, theory, musicianship and coaching lessons can all be done through Skype! All you need is internet service, laptop or tablet, webcam and Skype application. Skype lessons are also a great option for local students too! Those that have the sniffles or whose family is ill, are traveling to a location with a piano available, or are snowed in may still take their lesson at the regularly scheduled time through Skype!
Group Classes: Group classes are a great way for students to develop performance, ensemble and listening skills, as well as improve theory and rhythm skills in a fun, companionable group setting. Students build camaraderie with their studio mates and find friendship among their "piano family!" In these classes we'll play games that reinforce elements covered in private lessons, perform for one another, learn about music history, and develop critical listening skills and expression using musical language.
Group classes are held periodically throughout the school year, with at least 1 class each term. classes are held on Fridays, and will be announced at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
Summer Lessons: Taking summer lessons in some form is highly encouraged, and required for current students to reserve their lesson slot in the fall. Summer can be a great time to do fun musical projects, explore other genres of music, and have more uninterrupted time for practice and fun! Often students experience exceptional musical growth in the summer, when academic pressures have eased and stress levels are lower. Summer lessons also help prevent the loss of progress that occurs when students take a long hiatus, and makes the transition back to Fall lessons smoother. Flexible lesson packages are available that allow students to work around family vacations and other summer activities!
Recitals: Semester-end recitals are held in Winter and Spring and are open for all students and their family and friends to attend. These events are an excellent time for students to display what they have accomplished, and to show support for their fellow pianists! All recitals are followed by a reception. These events are the highlight of our year!
